Paul Glover
Paul Glover, Current Post Commander

Commander Paul Wayne Glover was born on September 8, 1970, in Rushville, Indiana, to Darrell S. Glover Jr and Margaret Pernice, both of whom preceded him in death. Raised with a strong sense of duty and service, Paul carried forward the legacy of his father and dedicated his life to serving his country and his community.

Paul graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri, in 1989. Shortly after, in 1990, he followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Army, beginning what would become a distinguished 20‑year military career. He completed Basic Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, as a 19K M1A1 Armor Crewman (Tanker). Throughout his service, Paul rose through the ranks from Private to Staff Sergeant (E‑6), earning the 19K30H designation with a Hotel Identifier.

His duty assignments took him across the United States and abroad, including Fort Bliss, Texas; Frankfurt, Germany; multiple locations throughout Europe; Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Irwin, California; and Fort Knox, Kentucky. Paul concluded his military service where it began—at Fort Bliss, Texas, retiring honorably in 2011.

In 1996, while serving with the 1st Armored Division during two deployments to Bosnia‑Herzegovina, Paul earned his Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) eligibility. His commitment to veterans’ advocacy became a defining part of his life. He became a Lifetime Member of the VFW in 2006 and advanced to Gold Legacy Life Member status in 2016.

Paul has held numerous leadership roles within the VFW at the Post, District, and Department levels. At VFW Post 1114, he served as:

  • Commander (2016–2018)
  • Senior Vice Commander (2014–2016)
  • Junior Vice Commander (2012–2014)
  • House Committee Member (2025–2026)

Within VFW District 8, he continued his leadership trajectory, serving as:

  • Junior Vice Commander (2019–2020)
  • Senior Vice Commander (2020–2021)
  • Commander (2021–2022)
  • Trustee

At the Department of Indiana, Paul currently serves as the State Guard (since 2016) and Southern Membership Chairman (since 2024). His dedication to supporting veterans, strengthening membership, and upholding the values of the VFW has made him a respected figure across the organization.
